ARSENAL BEATS CHELSEA AT COMMUNITY SHIELD ON PENALTIES (4 - 1)

Arsenal beat Chelsea 4-1 in a penalty shootout at Wembley Stadium to win the Community Shield.

The Gunners perhaps had the better of a largely forgettable first-half, although Chelsea felt they should have had a penalty when Willian appeared to be tripped by Hector Bellerin. Instead the Brazilian was shown a yellow card for simulation.

Chelsea started the second-half at a lightning-quick pace and took the lead after 46 minutes, when Victor Moses ran onto a Gary Cahill header and slammed a close-range finish beyond Petr Cech.

In the annual match that marks the week leading up to the beginning of the Premier League season, it was Chelsea that went ahead in the 46th minute through Victor Moses.

Then in penalty kicks, using the ABBA format, Arsenal took advantage of Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois sending his penalty into the stands and Petr Cech saving Alvaro Morata's shot, with Olivier Giroud scoring the winner, giving the Gunners momentum heading into next week.
Arsenal, with its latest trophy, will face Leicester City on Friday to kick off the 2017-18 Premier League season.
